What does a PrevDent whitening treatment entail?
To give teeth a natural white color, the tooth enamel and dentin must be bleached from the inside with 6% hydrogen peroxide or 10 to 16% carbamide peroxide. Only then is teeth whitening effective and safe. These treatments may only be performed under the supervision of the dentist according to EU regulations. Is teeth whitening safe?
Yes, as long as this is done safely and professionally. Authorized by dentistry, PrevDent CrWR 6% H2o2 whitening treatment is a safe in-office treatment that removes deep-seated discoloration with guaranteed lowest percentage (6%) of hydrogen peroxide. The treatment method is fully compliant with the new EU legislation, which has been in force since November 1, 2012. A PrevDent CrWR treatment is only carried out by a professional.
Is teeth whitening sensitive?
The PrevDent CrWR treatment is pain-free in 99.9% of all cases. The nHAP (nano-Hydroxyapatite) that is incorporated in the 6% re-Whtening Solution is known for its strong reminalizing and repairing effect of the enamel both during and after bleaching. The method is therefore also suitable for people with sensitive teeth. In case a slight sensitivity does develop, this will disappear within 24 hours after the treatment.
Will the peroxide gel harmful to my teeth?
The new EU legislation effective November 1, 2012 restricts the use of hydrogen peroxide in products. PrevDent CrWR uses only 6% and thus meets the safety standard.
Peroxide is an oxidant. Hydrogen peroxide breaks down into H2O + O2 (water and oxygen) and binds to pigments (discoloration) and penetrates into the tooth nucleus. The oxidation process is accelerated by using a bleaching lamp. Subsequently, the peroxide bound with the pigments disintegrates into water and oxygen and is removed through the teeth and eventually through the body. Water and oxygen are natural substances and are therefore not harmful. The safety of hydrogen peroxide has been independently established and assessed by the Scientific Committee on Cosmetic and Non-Food Products (SCCNFP), US Food & Drug Administration (FDA), global professional organizations and key opinion leaders from the dental profession. All of these agencies have concluded that its use for whitening teeth is both safe and effective.
